Buckle Up - It could save your life.
Hey Teens: BUCKLE UP!
Ok, so you're a teenage driver. You probably feel like you're a good driver and have nothing to worry about. Guess what... so did I, until I was involved in my first wreck at the age of 19. Thankfully I was wearing my seat belt -- which was something I quite often didn't do at that time. I lucked out and walked away with only minor bruises. If I hadn't 'happened' to put on my seat belt that night, my skull probably would've become well-acquainted with my windshield. Don't trust your life and well-being to luck. Buckle up - every time.
It's Not Just About YOU
Whether or not you care about your own safety, remember that you are still responsible for the passengers in your vehicle. Take a moment and think of two of your best friends. Ok, ready? Now let's imagine for a moment that you're driving them to the movies when out of nowhere a car comes barreling through the intersection and slams into your car. Five minutes earlier, you'd buckled up. So did your friend in the back seat. But your friend in the passenger seat thought seat belts were a waste of time, and didn't bother. You and your friend in the back seat are a bit bruised from it all, but thankfully your seat belts held you in place during the crash. Your friend in the passenger seat wasn't so fortunate. The force from the impact hurled them headfirst into the windshield and dashboard. Now rewind the story five minutes earlier to when you left your friend's house. A simple "Everyone buckled?" question could've saved your friend's life. Sure, they might've made fun of you for the question... but no one's laughing now.
Remember, it's not just about you. Never leave the driveway without making sure that everyone in the vehicle is buckled.
